How the monthly reading is actually calculated

A month is set by the Sun, which changes sign once at Sankranti and spends about thirty days in each. When the Sun is in Capricorn itself the emphasis falls on you — visibility, vitality and self-direction; when it reaches Scorpio, your eleventh, the classical reading turns to gains, networks and income. Mercury and Venus shift once or twice inside the same window and Mars about every six weeks, and that interplay is what gives a month texture instead of one flat verdict.

Capricorn — the fixed frame a horoscope is built on

Capricorn (Makara) is movable (chara) earth, ruled by Saturn, symbolised by the crocodile / sea-goat and governing the knees. Its weekday is Saturday, the day of Saturn; its colour blue / black, its number 8, its classical stone Blue Sapphire (Neelam). Three nakshatras span it — Uttara Ashadha (Sun), Shravana (Moon), Dhanishta (Mars) — and because Vimshottari runs from the birth nakshatra rather than the sign, two Capricorn natives born days apart can start life in completely different dasha sequences. Capricorn (Makara) is ruled by Saturn and is movable earth — disciplined, ambitious and responsible. Natives are patient, practical and hardworking, climbing steadily toward their goals through perseverance. Serious and self-reliant, they value structure, status and lasting achievement. Over a month the Sun lights each of these in turn, so the same transit reaches a Capricorn native through Saturn rather than through anyone else's ruler.

The honest limit of a sign horoscope

A Capricorn horoscope is written for one twelfth of the population. It cannot know your ascendant, which of Saturn's or anyone else's dasha you are running, or which of your twelve houses the transiting planets actually fall in — and that last one decides whether a given transit lands on your career or your health. Treat it as the regional forecast: useful for the general weather, silent on whether it rains on your street. Two Capricorn natives, one born under Uttara Ashadha and one under Dhanishta, are running different dashas today and genuinely have different days. The free chart takes a minute and reads from your own placements instead of from Capricorn in the abstract.

What to do with it

Keep Saturday for anything that wants Saturn behind it, and use blue / black or the number 8 where a small choice is genuinely free — they cost nothing and they are the classical associations, not a purchase. Blue Sapphire (Neelam) is the stone the texts name for Saturn, and it is worth saying plainly that a gem is only advised when Saturn is benefic for your ascendant, which a sign page cannot know. The remedy worth more than any of them is knowing which dasha is actually running for you.

Is the Capricorn monthly horoscope read from my Sun sign or my Moon sign?

From the Moon. Vedic astrology treats the Moon as the mind and reads transits from your janma rashi — the sign the Moon actually occupied at birth. It also uses the sidereal zodiac, currently about 24° from the tropical one Western astrology uses, so a Western Capricorn Sun is often a Sagittarius Sun in a Vedic chart. The free chart settles which sign you should be reading.

Why does this differ from the Capricorn monthly horoscope on other sites?

Two structural reasons rather than a difference of opinion. Most popular horoscopes are written for the Western tropical Sun sign, while this is read from the sidereal Moon sign, and the two sit roughly 24° apart. Beyond that we do not assert a mood: the engine computes the actual positions — including whether the Moon is in Leo, your Chandrashtama — and the wording follows them.

How accurate can one monthly horoscope for all of Capricorn be?

Directionally useful and no more, which is why this page says so rather than dressing it up. One forecast is being shared by a twelfth of the population, with no knowledge of your lagna or your dasha — a Uttara Ashadha-born Capricorn and a Dhanishta-born Capricorn are on different Vimshottari clocks entirely. The chart-specific reading is free here precisely because the honest answer is "cast your chart".
